Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is reminding all dog owners of its ‘zero tolerance’ policy on dog fouling due to the increase of dog foul incidents throughout the Borough.
A ‘zero tolerance’ policy in relation to all dog fouling offences detected is in operation throughout the Borough and any person failing to clean up after their dog will receive a fixed penalty on the spot or by post.
Aidan Mc Peake, Director of Environmental Services at Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council said, “The problem of dog foul in our Borough is one of the most unacceptable health issues raised by residents and elected members. It is not only unsightly but generates public health risk to those who come into contact with it.
“There are over 13,000 dogs licensed in the Borough whose owners mostly clean up after their dog. Council receives hundreds of dog fouling complaints annually and whilst we recognize that most owners are responsible and clean up after their dogs, a minority continue to fail in their responsibility.”

If you can provide information such as the name of the dog owner, the breed of dog, the street, date and time this will help enforcement officers in targeting offenders and planning future patrols.
