Coleraine Rugby Club took part in the recent Ballymena RFC Maxol Mini Rugby Festival, where rugby players aged 12 and under from neighbouring teams enjoyed a series of matches.
They also had the opportunity to meet Ulster rugby player Tommy Bowe who attended the tournament.
The leading forecourt and convenience retailer is the title sponsor of the Ulster Mini Rugby programme.
The Coleraine boys took on Ballyclare and Malone in their Pool A games during the Maxol Festival at Ballymena Rugby Club.
The Maxol Mini Rugby Festivals attract thousands of young players from across Northern Ireland by offering them the opportunity to not only develop their rugby skills but also the chance to socialise with other like-minded children and get to meet their Ulster Rugby heroes.
Kevin Paterson from Maxol said, “It was great to see so many young players coming to Ballymena for the Maxol Mini Rugby Festival.
“We at Maxol see the importance of encouraging our young people to stay active and get involved in sports and the Mini Rugby Festivals are a great way for us and our retailers to show our support for local communities.
“Today our local independent retailers, Chris Warwick from Braid River and Peter McCool from The Phoenix, greeted everyone who took part, adding that local personal touch to the event”.
For nearly a century, Maxol has played a vital part of local life in Northern Ireland whether that’s through fuelling people’s lives or supporting local initiatives across its network of convenience destinations.
The company first supported Ulster Mini Rugby in 2013 and has renewed its sponsorship for a further two years as part of its ongoing investment in local communities.
Maxol is the sponsor of Ulster Rugby’s mini rugby programme. The sponsorship deal includes 32 Mini Rugby Festivals over two years which are expected to involve more than 4,000 children from over 44 local rugby clubs and 200 rugby-playing primary schools across Ulster.
It marks a major investment by The Maxol Group in local sport across the region and is an ideal fit with the brand, reinforcing its brand ethos ‘at the heart of’ local communities across Northern Ireland.
