Captain delighted to be given the role

Kee joins the Bannsiders on an initial season-long loan from Linfield, but he has already pledged his future to the club once his deal expires at Windsor Park at the end of this season.

“I’ll be honest it was a bit of a shock, I didn’t expect it as I’m only in the door,” Kee told Times Sport when asked about being made captain.

“But listen it’s something that I want and hopefully I can pay him back for the faith he has shown in me.”

Kee made his name at Ballinamallard before moving to Linfield last summer, and he believes the Bannsiders should be challenging the likes of the Blues for honours.

“To me Coleraine are a top three/four club,” said Kee.

“Teams never get it easy coming here and that’s something we will be determined to build on this season.

“The team finished in the top six last season and that has to be the minimum target for us this term.

“This is a big club and we have to be aiming for big things.

“It’s a very young squad here, I think there’s six or seven teenagers in there.

“Hopefully the likes of myself and the other experience players can build a good blend with them,” he added.
