CHAMPIONSHIP TWO:Home defeat for Ballymoney against Wakehurst

Ballymoney got off to a flying start against Wakehurst with Ciaran Ferry heading over the bar from a corner in the first minute.

Both teams settled into the game and it was Wakehurst who almost broke the deadlock on ten minutes when Loughlin found Crawford.

The striker hit the by line and squared for Crawford to strike goalward, only to see his effort cleared by good defending from Wilkinson and Moore.

At the other end Gillan found Keane in a good position to tease the visitors defence, but he could only find the side netting.

Moore pulled off a good save to deny a Paul in the 17th minute.

As both teams continued to attack it was the visitors who finally broke the deadlock. Mellon intercepted a poor Buckley pass and slotted the ball through to Paul who blasted past Moore from close range

Wakehurst doubled their lead through Louglin.

The visitors took control and grabbed a third before the break, this time Crawford was on target. At the other end Ballymoney did have efforts from McClelland and Ferry.

Ballymoney made a cautious start to the second half. Paul broke through the Ballymoney defence on 55 minutes, however an excellent save from Moore kept the score at 3-0.

Both teams seemed to cancel each other out after this.

McClelland had an effort saved but his efforts were too little too late as Paul grabbed a fourth to steal all three points.
