The Bannsiders have won three of their last four Danske Bank Premiership fixtures, following a run of three successive league defeats.

It has been an impressive riposte from Kearney’s young squad as they look to finish the season on a high note.

“The response has been good, and I suppose a lot of the success has been down to the ignorance of youth,” Kearney said.

“Sometimes when you lose a couple of games, players can let that fester and then it spirals into something worse.

“I think the older players think about it more, and they maybe let the pressure get to them. But the young lads just go out and play football.

“They quickly move on from any adversity, and that’s great to see. Training this week has been great, and while the young lads don’t let things get to them, they don’t get carried away either.”

Coleraine’s recent revival saw them earn massive away victories at Cliftonville and Portadown respectively.

The Showgrounds outfit look destined for a top five finish this season, with sixth-placed Glentoran 15 points adrift with just eight games remaining.

“We have to target the teams above us,” Kearney said ahead of tomorrow’s home clash with Dungannon.

Glenavon and Cliftonville are both within three points of us. So that will be the aim. Dungannon will be a tough game. Rodney McAree has revitalised them in recent weeks.”
