OVER fifty local school children have just returned from ‘a trip of a lifetime’ after visiting the Chinese capital Beijing for 17 days.
The trip, which involved both sporting and cultiral exercises, was the brainchild of local school Principal John Platt and was funded by the Confucius Institute.
The 12 to 16-year-olds came from the Triangle area nad also the north west.
The boys played three local football teams during their stay at the Beijing Foreign Studies Hotel.
They drew one and won the rest of them.
They also took part in cultural classes were they learned Mandarin and other cultural aspects of the historic country.
They had a number of special trips including visiting the Great Wall of China, The Bird’s Nest Olympic Stadium, The Forbidden City and Beijing Zoo.
They also visited the Silk Market where they were able to purchase some highly sought after items!
It truly was a trip to remember for the young people who not only gained some memorable experiences, but also made a lot of new friends along the way. They would like to thank Mr Platt for making it possible.
