Forty three lady visitors and 78 members played in the recent Lafone Cup open at Portstewart Golf Club with the good weather producing some excellent scores.

Best on the day being the 41 points returned by Castlerock member Ursula Nutt. Best gross was won by Amy Chambers, a visitor from City of Derry who had 32 gross points playing off five. Runner-up was Alice McGill with Lesley McGlaughlin in third place from Helen McLaughlin in fourth. Front nine honours went to Elizabeth McCartney from Portadown with Maureen Clements winning the back nine. The event was generously sponsored by Club Members Jane and Alistair Glenn of PVC Direct (WINDOWS AND CONSERVATORIES).

The Lady Captain Mo Giffin then presented outstanding prizes from recent competitions. The Centenary Trophy and the June monthly medal winner was Thelma Smyth with a 69 net score. Best gross was Anne Agnew with runner up Evelyn McFadden. The May monthly medal was won by Jean Robinson runner up Mary Glover. The Lifeboat competition winner was Corrina O`Neill with Gillian McMullan runner up. The PGA tankard went to Evelyn McFadden with Mary Glover runner up. Eugena Porter won the Riverside trophy with best gross going to Shelia Aicken with Pat Lowe taking the runner up position.

Congratulations to lady members for their achievements at the Tenants Ladies International Tournament at Bushfoot with Pauline Agnew the outright winner on 39 points and a further well done to Maureen Clements who was fifth on the final day. Other members who won prizes on the three qualifying days were Brenda Strain, Lynne McCartney, Doreen Fleming, Caroline Christie and Margaret Cunning.

The senior foursomes team captained by Christine Hutchinson is congratulated for winning through to the quartet finals of this competition.
