Coleraine First XV narrowly lost out at Enniskillen on Saturday and had to be satisfied with a losing bonus point.
It was only the team’s second match in this year’s Kukri Ulster Rugby Championships and they held the lead for much of the game.
A late try brought the visitors back to within two points but they ran out of time to change the outcome, Enniskillen 22-20 Coleraine.
In the game the first points went to the home side after the award of a penalty try following a protracted series of scrums on the Coleraine five-metre line. 7-0
Coleraine went on the attack from the restart and Cameron Fulton slotted the ball between the posts for three points after a penalty award. 7-3
After half an hour Coleraine capitalised on a strong attacking position, Brian Hughes making the final yards to score under the posts. Fulton was on target for the extras. 7-10
Approaching halftime Enniskillen scored an unconverted try and within minutes Coleraine replied with another well struck Fulton penalty, leaving the scoreline 12-13 at the break.
In the early stages of the second half Coleraine were twice reduced to 14 men following yellow card decisions. The home side took their opportunity scoring a converted try and claiming three points from a penalty. 19-13
In the closing minutes Coleraine again attacked and Bradley Dempster made a scything run to score a great try, converted by Fulton. Although Coleraine attacked, they were unable to find another score and the final tally was Enniskillen 22-20 Coleraine.
