Derek Corbett hit the post on Saturday getting second spot in Portstewart’s Sweep but he went a step further on Sunday by winning the Strand Society Charity Day.
Derek scored 39 points to win and, as well as his main prize, Hannah Fillis donated a bottle of champagne as well. Derek scored 39 points and finished two in front of Gary Todd on 37.
All of this was a fund raiser for the Church Mission Society, Ireland, an organization close to the heart of Russell and Laverne Fillis. A substantial sum gathered from a turnout of close to 100 golfers and Russell extended his thanks to them and to sponsors such as Dunluce Golf, Atlantis in Portrush, Royal Court Hotel Portrush and his daughter Hannah for their generous donations of prizes.
