A huge international entry has been assembled for Ireland’s biggest Banger race meeting – Shamwreck 2014, which takes place at Tullyroan Oval on Sunday May 11th.
All corners of the British Isles will be represented on track, as well as Belgium and Holland too.
Topping the entry are ‘The Bears’ from the south coast of England. They have a reputation which stretches right across Europe as one of the most feared teams in the sport, and captain Nigel Riley and his sons Ashley and Justin will no doubt be out to wreak havoc at Tullyroan on Sunday. They take no prisoners, and if any of the others get in their way, they will simply destroy them! Huge crashes, smashes and wrecks will be the order of the day throughout the event, making it a fantastic spectacle for the fans who will turn up from all over to see the big meeting.
Local interest will focus on defending champion Kieran McIvor from Coleraine. He almost brought the house down last year with a very popular home win, but he could well become a target for some of the visitors this year.
Steven Bolton, Davy Patton, Jonny Murdock, Willy Ogilby and Dave Haugh are other local Ulster favourites, whilst Irish Champion Steven Reynolds and Dublin counterpart Stevo McGrath will lead the Republic of Ireland challenge.
Jack Reynolds, Steve Bugler, Callum Hall and Steve Tyson will be other English racers hoping to either take the coveted win or else destroy the local challenge, whilst Belgian Mark de Laat and Dutch stars Maarten Steenbekkers and Arian Vorkink will travel from Europe to sample Ireland’s biggest Banger event of the season.
Shamwreck really is a must see event for all the family, and with carnage sure to break out all around the raceway it is not for the feint hearted!
