Thursday 25th April saw the much anticipated return of the Paul Logan Tennis Coaching Inter Primary School Tennis Tournament, held for the second year in Coleraine Leisure Centre.
Five local primary schools - Ballysally PS, Drumrane PS, Macosquin PS, Millburn PS and St John’s PS entered teams. The morning began with the 40 school children competing in a round robin competition in six different groups. In contrast to last year, the competition was closely contested, with group winners from Ballysally, Millburn and Macosquin.
At one point the overall cup could have gone to one of two schools, however in the end Macosquin PS managed to hold on and win three of the six groups, meaning they would retain the cup for another year.
Organisers would like to thank all the schools for competing, along with Coleraine Borough Council Sports Development for supplying water and medals and arranging the indoor courts at the leisure centre. Also a big thank you to Kenny’s Spar who kindly supplied the oranges and apples for all children.
Organisers look forward to the tournament returning again next year – and with all children trying so hard it will again no doubt prove to be a close run competition.
