THE Coleraine Festival of Pool will be held at the Sperrin Social Club in Coleraine from March 12-19.
The annual championships had to be moved from its usual venue, the Lodge Hotel, because of a double booking.
A spokesperson for the Coleraine Pool League, the organisers of the Festival, said: “We wish to put on record their thanks to the Sperrin for taking us at such short notice and our hope that all players will continue to support the festival.”
The Festival will include the 147 Singles, Doubles, Bull’s Eye 3 Person Team, Clement Dealey Photography Knockout Cup and Plate and Seniors (45 years and over).
There will also be a new Under 23 singles event which will replace the Under 18 and Under 21 competitions from previous years. Both the Seniors and Under 23s are open to everyone so it’s hoped that some new faces will come along.
The spokesperson revealed: “We then have the Coleraine Times Captains Cup which has a brand new, innovative format this year.
“We have amalgamated it this year as opposed to splitting it into two divisions previously, this gives us a bigger and better competition.
“However, in order to keep it competitive the Division 1 captains will face a handicap if they are drawn against a captain from Division 2.”
A ful preview of the 2012 Festival of Pool will appear in our next edition.
