Stroll for Walkers at Bushfoot

Des and Brian Walker topped the First Division of the Dunluce Winter League at Bushfoot GC on Saturday.

Des scored 39 points off his fourteen handicap with 21 of these coming from a front nine of four over par. His back nine was less consistent with a couple of double bogies edging their way in but a good birdie three at seventeen made some amends and he was able to add in another 18 points. Brian Walker was five over after nine and had 17 points to show for this effort. Better was to come on the return leg where 19 points were won including another birdy three at the seventeenth.

The points haul in Division Two was greater with Nigel Shannon gathering 42 points playing off seventeen. Even with a double bogey six at the sixth Nigel scored 22 points out. The back nine was less profitable mainly due to a no score at twelve and Nigel had to be content with 18 points for a total of 42.

Matt Colgan was hot on Nigel’s heels on 40 points. Matt had bagged 20 points for the outward nine and this would have been better but for a no score at seven. The eighth made up for this blip by yielding a birdy three. No more birdies were hit but Matt’s back nine of four over par gave up 22 points to the seventeen handicapper to take his tally to 42.
