RUGBY: Andrew Trimble eyes Irish call up

ANDREW Trimble is clearly a man on a mission.

The Coleraine man suffered a frustrating season last term as injuries meant he missed out on Ireland's Grand Slam glory.

But Trimble is getting back to his best - as his Man of the Match award in the Magner's League win over Munster proved

And with just with two crucial Heineken Cup pool four matches to go before Declan Kidney names his squad for the Six Nations the back is hoping that more success with Ulster will see him back in the greeen shirt.

"If I am playing well for Ulster and they are winning games then I guess I am going in the right direction," he said.

"I was happy with how things went against Munster, I got a bit of ball and enjoyed a bit of space. Yes there are bound to be opportunities for players, but there is also a lot of competition there as well.

"I think personally I just have to build on performances week in and out and hopefully give myself a decent chance to be in with a shout."
