A man who stole £430 worth of razors and blades received a suspended sentence when his case came before Londonderry Magistrates Court.

Mark Anthony Brown (38), of Hawthorn Drive, pleaded guilty to five charges of theft at a Boots Chemists between March 4 and March 14. Sentencing was deferred to allow for restitution.

He stole them sell to fund his gambling habit.

A two-month suspended sentence and Restitution Order for £253.42 was made.

Defence counsel Stephen Mooney said the razors were not stolen out of greed but to fund this habit.

He told the court the 38-year-old has sought help for his problem, is repaying the money and just over £250 is still outstanding.
