The railway line between Carrickfergus and Whitehead has reopened after a vehicle 'struck a bridge', NI Railways has said.

The route was closed for a short time this afternoon due to to a lorry becoming stuck under the North Road bridge in Carrick.

"The line has now reopened and services will be operating as normal - allow for some knock on disruption," a NI Railways spokesperson said.

"There will be some temporary speed restrictions on the line until an engineer completes an assessment of the bridge."
