NORTHERN Irish water was pumped into Inishowen on Wednesday (September 18) after a wide area ran dry following a major water outage.

A burst of water main in Fahan occurred at 6.45am. This burst has affected the Fahan, Inch, Burnfoot, Bridgend, Muff, Burt, Newtown, Carrigans, St. Johnston and Manorcunningham areas.

Work has begun to have the main repaired and contingency plans of feeding water in from Northern Ireland have been implemented.

It is hoped that normal supply will resume by 4pm.
