Coleraine have been boosted by the news defender Aaron Canning has penned a new two-year contract extension.

The Limavady enjoyed one of his best seasons in a Coleraine shirt starting a number of games in central midfield and central defence as well as his familiar right back role and was voted the colerainefc.com Player of the Year by supporters at the end of the campaign.

Canning is delighted to have extended his stay at The Showgrounds despite rumours linking him with a move away.

“There was talk of me leaving Coleraine, but I am just delighted to have signed a new contract and end the rumours that had been circulating,” he said.

“We have just started our pre-season training and from a personal level I feel fresh and ready for our upcoming games. The group of players are working hard to ensure we have a successful campaign and give our supporters something to cheer about.”
