A number of clubs were interested in snapping th former Newbuildings man up, but he decided Coleraine is the best place for him.

Bannsiders boss Kearney is delighted to have acquired the services of the defender.

“I’m very pleased to bring Garth to the club,” said Bannsiders boss Oran Kearney.

“We have been looking to strengthen at left back for a while and provide a bit of competition for the position.

“Garth ticks all the boxes for us. He’s local, he’s a good age, he has a great left foot and he likes to get forward.

“He had a great season last year catching the eye of a number of clubs, he will be a good addition to our squad.”

Falconer will be hoping to get a run out in the Bannsiders first pre-season friendly ahead of the new campaign when they travel to Mill Meadow tonight (Tuesday) to take on Moyola Park.

The Coleraine fans will also be hoping to get a glimpse of new strikers Sammy Morrow and Rodney Brown in action.

“It will be good to get back to playing again,” said Kearney.

“The players have been working very hard over the last couple of weeks so I’m sure it will be a welcome relief for them to get some game time.

“I’m sure like recent years it will be a competitive match, but for us it’s about building up to the opener against Glentoran on August 8th.

“We will have plenty of games and sessions between now and then and plenty of opportunity for the lads to hit the ground running for that opening fixture.”
