She was up against the very best in the world at the IFBB Diamond Cup in Liverpool, an elite international competition, as she aimed for her pro card - the ultimate goal of many body builders.

“I was the only competitor from Northern Ireland ,” said Lesley-Ann. “I was competing in the women’s physique class which is the highest standard, yopu need to be extremely dried, lean and muscular, yet athletic and aesthetically pleasing.

“Although I didn’t take first place I am very proud of what I achieved and I am determined to get that pro card. These were the top competitors from across the world and only 12 people made it from 30 countries.”

Despite the gruelling regime Lesley-Ann, who trains at Extreme in Londonderry and also Aaron’s Gym, Magherfelt, subjects herself to, she is determined to make her name in the top flight.

“My goal is to compete at the Arnold Classic, I know I can do it, I have the determination andthe work ethic,” she added.
