Dunloy 'wind week'

BALLYMONEY Borough Council in association with the Bank of Ireland is recognising "Wind Week," a national celebration of wind energy held UK wide between 12-20 June 2010.

Ballymoney Borough Council and Dunloy Development Association, together with Your Energy Ltd, are joining in the activities with this four mile circular walk allowing participants to find out about the benefits and opportunities offered by wind energy.

The walk includes the country laneways and turf roddens in the vicinity of Carness top and Ballymacaldrick Mountain, and passes adjacent to the recently developed Garves Wind Farm.

Weather dependent, there may be a chance to visit nearby Lough Naroon and take in the magnificent views from Long Mountain. After the return walk to Dunloy village, much-needed refreshments will be made available.

There will also be an opportunity to find out more about energy efficiency and renewable technologies on the evening. Walkers should bring warm, waterproof clothing and sturdy boots.
