Flash Harry play warm up show in Institute

The band, led by Harry Hamilton, have devised a unique show to pay tribute to the musical heritage of Ireland.

Before taking their ‘Celebration of Irish Rock’ show on the road to Belfast, they’ll be playing an intimate gig for 100 people in the ‘Stute.

Harry told the ‘MAIL’: “We’ve always wanted to do this. It doesn’t mean we’re going to stop doing the Queen stuff, but it’s always good to try something a bit different.

“We didn’t want the show in the Opera House to be the first time doing this in front of a live audience, which is why we’re playing the Institute as a dress rehearsal.

“We’re looking forward to the gig in the Institute as much as the gig in the Opera House. When you play small venues you can forget about the costume changes and the spectacle. It’s all about the music.”

The unique concert will see Flash Harry pay homage to the musical heritage of Ireland, with a jam-packed set-list featuring the music that has rocked the world. The band will be belting out all the hits from Van Morrison to Thin Lizzy and U2 to Snow Patrol.

“Ireland has produced its fair share of great music over the past 40 years,’ explained Harry.

“Many of these seminal songs have found their way into our set-list over the years, but this will the first time that we’ve brought them all together into one great show.

“We couldn’t celebrate Irish Rock without acknowledging the incredible contribution made by Thin Lizzy and Gary Moore, but in light of Gary’s untimely death, we will certainly be playing some of their greatest hits at the Grand Opera House.”

Flash Harry’s Celebration of Irish Rock takes place at the Grand Opera House on Monday, March 7. Tickets are priced £13.50 to £19.25 and are available from the box office in the theatre foyer, online at www.goh.co.uk or by calling 9024 1919.

Tickets for the gig in the Institute, priced £10, are available from the bar. Only 100 tickets are available for the show so fans are advised to get their early.
