'Drive-thru' coffee bar opens in Newtownabbey

Almost 30 jobs have been created at the recently refurbished SPAR store in Mallusk following a multi-million pound investment by local business Henderson Retail.

The Mallusk Road store has undergone a complete renovation and extension, creating a total of 28 jobs and bringing a host of new services, including new food offerings and the first-ever Barista Bar coffee ‘drive-thru’ in Northern Ireland.

Mayor of Antrim and Newtownabbey, Ald Stephen Ross visited the facility following the recent works.

Ald Ross said: “I am delighted to see this major investment by Henderson Retail in a store that has been at the heart of the Mallusk community for over 20 years.

“Importantly, it still maintains its strong focus on the local community, providing additional services including a full-service Post Office.”

Danielle Martin, store manager of SPAR Mallusk added: “Our staff, shoppers and their families are residents of the local community, and we work every day to ensure we are engaging with local organisations, schools and groups to make a difference.”

Mark McCammond, Retail Director at Henderson Group said the all-new outlet is designed to be a one-stop shop.
