Award for Top Ballymoney Marketing Student

Ballymoney student Linda Hilditch has been honoured for her exceptional academic achievements while studying at the University of Ulster.

The 21-year-old received her accolade last week when the University’s Department of Marketing, Entrepreneurship and Strategy hosted its annual Marketing Excellence Awards ceremony.

She was one of eight students, recognised for their work and won the Best Overall Second Year Student category in the Hastings Hotel Award for Excellence section.

Sponsored by leading local enterprises, the Marketing Excellence Awards celebrates the skills, hard work and dedication of our future marketeers from Ulster’s class of 2009/2010.

Linda, a third year Bsc (Hons) Marketing student and former pupil at Dalriada School, is currently on an industrial placement year with Belfast City Council.

She said: “I’m a communications student in the Development Department and it has been great experience so far, offering me the opportunity to put into practice what I have learned from my degree.

“I’m glad I choose to study Marketing at the University of Ulster as it’s a really interesting course and will hopefully open up many job opportunities after I leave.”

Head of the Department at Ulster, Professor Rodney McAdam, said: “The achievement of the award winners is truly exceptional given the intense levels of competition.

“It is good to see their efforts being recognised and also to see their friends and family present at the awards ceremony.

“The ongoing support of our sponsors from the business community is a key part of the awards process and we express our thanks to them.”
