Encouraging results at Ballee Community High School

Head teacher Gillian McCartney extended congratulations go to top performing pupils who achieved 7 or more A*-C grades including English and Mathematics.

She said: “This year our girls performed highly with significant attainment by Ria Hutchison, Megan Stewart and Leoni Hill who all were awarded various ‘A’ grades. Boys too have done well with our highest results coming from Mark Andrew and Leon Gregg who also gained excellent grades in a range of subjects.

“Of note is the improvement in the number of pupils receiving five or more A*-C grades which was notably higher than the number for last year. Indeed achievement throughout the whole school was encouraging with 95% of pupils gaining at least 5 GCSEs grades. Departmentally, there have been a number of success stories. Science, PE, Art, Motor Vehicle and Road User Studies and Performing Arts departments all celebrate a 100% pass rate at grades A*-E and thirteen subjects had a 100% pass rate.”

And she continued: “We are proud to say that every pupil in Ballee Community High School receiving results this year has gained a recognised qualification that will benefit them as they progress to further education or employment.The Governors, Principal and staff have worked extremely hard this year to ensure that targets set within the school development plan have been met and pupils achieving high grades.It was a pleasure to see the delight on the faces of the pupils and parents as they opened those ominous brown envelopes. All the hard work, effort and commitment has paid off with pupils. Congratulations to all.”
