Get in the mood this Halloween

Moyle District Council’s Arts Programme is offering plenty of opportunities for people of all ages to get in the mood for Halloween and take part in art workshops and preparations for the Halloween Parade in Ballycastle this year.

The Arts Officer for Moyle District Council said: ‘We hope as many people as possible will come along to these shows or get involved in the workshops which offer something for everyone in different parts of Moyle.It’s a great opportunity to work with professional artists to have fun and be creative.’

DRACULA - THE PANTO is a hilarious spoof of the Dracula story done in panto style by Isoceles Theatre. Just 2 performers play a host of characters and there are lots of songs including Bat out of Hell and other favourites. It performs on Monday 27 October, 7pm in the Cushendall Golf Club and on Tuesday 28 October, 7pm in Sheskburn Recreation Centre, 7 Mary Street, Ballycastle All tickets are £2 and the show is suitable for anyone from ages 8 – 80 +. There are also plenty of participatory workshops including pop-up art workshops for ages 5+ where you can create your own Halloween decorations with Jacqui Dougan of Smudges Inc. These take place on Saturday 25th October from 2pm-4pm at Cairns Allotments, Cairns Road, Cushendall there will also be a Haunted House made by Cairns Residents Group on Friday 31 October, 7pm – 9pm.

More art workshops happen on Friday 31st October, 11 am – 12.30 at the Pop-up Arts tent, Dundarave Play Area ( beside coach park),Bushmills and on Friday 31st October, 3pm - 5pm at the Pop-up Arts tent, Altananam , Bushmills.

To celebrate the local APPLE FAIR there will be arts activities on Tuesday 28 October, 4pm with Big Telly Theatre in the The Creative Shops Project (former Brady’s supermarket) on 54 Castle street, Ballycastle.

On Halloween day itself on Friday 31st October, 3pm - 5pm

there will be FACE PAINTING and you can take a scary selfie in the Halloween photo booth created by artist Jo MacKinley.This will be held in The Creative Shops Project (former Brady’s supermarket) on 54 Castle street, Ballycastle.
