Joanna is on song for charity

During lockdown, the talented students have all banded together to help others by belting out their own virtual version of Gary Barlow’s beautiful song ‘Sing’.

Joanna Patton-Mayrs (aged 15) from Coleraine, who attends BSPA Ballymena, said: “Taking part in ‘Sing’ helped me to feel closer to the others during these times of lockdown and isolation. I was excited and felt happy, being a part of the BSPA family has made these last few weeks so much easier to cope with. I’m especially pleased the song is to help a cancer charity as my lovely Granda had cancer and died when I was only little. So this is very special to me.”

Peter Corry, Artistic Director at BSPA, said: “At BSPA we believe in the importance of helping others, we had recently just secured the Cancer Fund for Children as our designated charity and with our 10th anniversary coming up in January 2021, it felt like the right time to create something very special. “Creating this song has been such fun and students have been so enthusiastic, rehearsing and recording the song in their bedroom, living room or garden, they have given it so much passion and joy and as you can see and hear.” To donate to ‘Sing’ go to www.justgiving.com/fundraising/BSPA2020
