Jonny hits right note for NHS

A Coleraine man who raised a staggering £2,171 for the NHS during a Saturday night karaoke gig from his home has said he was “overwhelmed” by the support shown to his charity fundraiser.

Jonny Johnston, who is well known for his panto performances with Coleraine Provincial Players and for his singing with boyband Upfront, undertook the two hour gig from his home to entertain friends and family.

“I was actually going to do the gig without any fundraiser linked but my friends Damian and Amanda Reid suggested it and Amanda offered to set up the Go Fund Me page, so I agreed, so thanks to them.

“I’ve been totally overwhelmed by the support. All my friends and family have been so generous, as well as the many people who I do not know and who kindly donated too. On average there was always in and around the 160 people watching me at any one time. A massive thank you from the bottom of my heart to everybody who donated and supported my live performance. It’s something I will never forget and it shows just how much our community can get together and give support to what really matters in this world.

“Ideally I would love to source some much needed PPE for the hospital, though I am not sure how possible this will be with the demand on all suppliers. If not I’ve been advised by a ward sister that goodies, tea, coffee etc would be much appreciated.”
