20,000 litres of ice cream consumed as temperatures soar

As temperatures soared on the North Coast last week, a well known ice cream company has revealed that around 20,000 litres of ice cream has been consumed.

Just think that a container of milk is just two litres - and we’ve managed to eat a mammoth 20,000 litres of yummy ice cream!

Arnaldo Morelli said that consumption was up fifty percent on last year in their Portrush, Portstewart and Ballycastle outlets.

“It has been a record breaking week. We’ve sold in the region of 20,000 litres of ice cream. Fifty percent more than this time last year!”

And, Ballymoney Tesco completely sold out of fans as “Toon” folk tried to stay cool in the Mediterranean temperatures.

Last Thursday, the Giant’s Causeway, Magilligan and Portrush hit a whopping 27 degrees!

But everyone experienced a huge cool down with the torrential rain on Saturday and Sunday.

Fear not, temperatures are expected to return to normal for this time of the year and rain is expected later this week.
