A ‘unique asset’ for Loreto

A Loreto College fund raiser next month hopes to refurbish a special and unique asset which has been passed to the school - the Loreto Convent and Chapel building.

The Friends of Loreto College, a group representing the former students, current and retired members of staff and parents of current and former students of the College, is holding an 85th anniversary Ball to fund the special project.

The School has been offered the Convent and Chapel which is no longer in use, and hope to integrate it into the College itself.

According to a statement,, the Management and Board of Governors wish to ‘be true to the unique ambiance of the building, its tranquillity and its sense of being a special place’.

Funds from the Ball, which will be held in Ballymena, will be used to refurbish the old convent into a Pastoral Care and Learning Support Centre, and, depending on the funds raised, perhaps also a Sixth Form Common Room. It is also hoped that former students will be able to use the space.
