Active travel and climate change

A school spokesperson said: “We are delighted to announce that two of our students were highly commended for their posters.

“They each received a set of LED bicycle lights and a copy of ‘Right Turn’ – a cycling magazine for primary school children. In addition to this, the school received three books from the Al Humphries series ‘The Boy Who Biked The World’ for the school library.”

Mrs Laverty would like to congratulate all the children on their fabulous entries and thank Emma Keenan, our Sustrans Active Travel Officer, for her continued support.

In St. Patrick’s and St. Brigid’s Primary School, Active Travel is very important. The classes are competing for the ‘Active Travel’ certificate of the month and held a Scooter Skills day. They are also preparing to take part in the ‘Big Pedal’ in April.

Mr Kinney, vice-principal, said: “The students have really embraced the challenge of trying to travel to school in a more sustainable and environmentally friendly way and are enjoying all the activities to promote this initiative.”
