Alternative cultural body setting up

As TBCT winds itself down, it appears that another cultural body is trying to get off the ground in Dublin. Documents obtained by the Sentinel reveal that a group currently calling itself the ‘Association of Temple Bar Cultural Interests’ is in the process of consituting itself. One early objective of the new organisation is “to be THE collective voice of Members’ interests in matters relating to the cultural policy of the area”.

The new collective is being formed from a looser conglomeration of cultural organisations in the area and have already met and drafted a document outling future aims and objectives. An email concerning this has also been seen by this paper that reveals the new organisation is trying to place itself at the heart of the wind down of TBCT.

The email also suggests that a new name for the organisation is found quickly with the authour of the email stating: “I do think it would be important to distance the name from those of TBCT or the Temple Bar Company.”

The email also asked if those interested in joining could state any objections they have to initial proposals by June 12 and those signed up by that stage will be considered founding members.
