Ambulance in collision

THE crew members in an emergency vehicle have been taken to hospital as a precautionary measure after their ambulance overturned in a traffic accident near Claudy earlier today.

The overturned ambulance was involved in a collision with a recycling van owned by the City Council on the Glenshane Road near the village, and the two-man crew from the van were also conveyed to hospital.

The collision happened at the junction of the Glenshane Road and Golf Road.

The circumstances are under investigation, but no one has been seriously injured.

The ambulance was on the return journey from a call in Dungiven when the collision occurred.
