Apprentice Boys condemn arsonattack in Donegal

The General Secretary of the Apprentice Boys of Derry, Billy Moore, has condemned the attack on Newtowncunningham Orange Hall over the weekend.

In a statement, issued on behalf of the Associated Clubs of the Apprentice Boys of Derry General Committee, he condemned what has been confirmed as a malicious act of arson and called for those responsible to be brought to justice.

He stated: “The damage inflicted on the premises is an attack on all peaceful and democratic citizens in the village of Newtowncunningham. We trust the Garda Síochána will apprehend the perpetrators of this cowardly act and appropriate punishment will be administered through the courts.”

He pointed out that one of the Apprentice Boys branch clubs is affected, stating: “The General Committee offer our help and support to the local branch, Newtowncunningham No Surrender Club, who meet in the premises.”
