'Article unfairon Rottweilers'

FROM:- Kerri Connolly.

I was reading your article concerning the dog attack in Lurgan Park and I am very angry at this article as I myself own two female Rottweilers and I do not appreciate Mr McEvoy referring to the Rottweiler breed or Doberman breed as savage dogs.

How sure is Mr McEvoy that this dog was either breed as he referred to it as a big dog at first and then stated either the Rottweiler or Doberman breed and there are hundreds of breeds of large dogs.

I would also like to point out that there was no attack made on anyone or any child but a ball and I am sure a ball does not count as a human being these days.

In my view Mr McEvoy was just discriminating against these breeds of dogs because most people tend to and it is not fair as people seem to be giving them a bad name. These dogs are not on the dangerous dog acts.

People need to realise that it is not the breed that is the problem it is the way the dog is trained and I have seen many small dogs be nasty and no one puts that in the paper.

Because they automatically see a Rottweiler or Doberman breed and straight away they think of a vicious dog and in my eyes these people are small minded and are unwilling to give big breeds like the two named above a chance. I will always have a Rottweiler because they are the most loyal and friendly dogs.

I had to reply to that article as I think it is a disgrace that the title even says 'Dog attack concern' and there was no attack made on anybody, the dog did not approach anybody. So my question is to Mr McEvoy where was the dog attack, and how sure was he of the breed?

People need to be sure of the breed of dog before they put a statement in a paper calling a breed a savage dog. And I will still be walking my two Rottweilers in public and round the park as I am very proud of my dogs.
