Assembly pays its respect to the former First Minister

The Northern Ireland Assembly will suspend its business today (Monday) to pay respects to the Rt Hon The Lord Bannside, the former First Minister, Reverend Dr Ian Paisley.

Members of the Assembly will be given the opportunity to make their tributes when the Assembly moves into Plenary at 12 noon, which are expected to end at approximately 1.30pm. After this, Members will make their way to the Great Hall and sign the Book of Condolence.

The Principal Deputy Speaker will lead those signing the Book, followed by the First and deputy First Ministers, Party Leaders and other Members. The Book will then be open to the public.

Business scheduled will be rescheduled and the Assembly will resume its normal business tomorrow (Tuesday), sitting at their usual time of 10.30am.
