Can Can gives Ballyrashane a kick start

IN July a team of volunteers from Ballyrashane Presbyterian Church and friends are travelling to Uganda with Christian charity Abaana to assist in building a Nursery block at Christ The King Primary School, which the 2007 Church team had been involved in building.

Local charity Can Can recycling based in Ballymoney has given a donation of 40 football tops to the Church to enable the volunteers to take with them and deliver to the children at the project.

Can Can Recycling provides work opportunities in the recycling of waste materials for up to 25 people with learning difficulties. This enables them to develop their skills, experiences and confidence to enable them to progress into other areas of employment.

Clare Carson from Can Can Recycling said: “I had heard about the trip from one of the team who is going to Uganda and I felt it is a very worthy cause to support. We recycle items of clothing and because we receive many different football tops I thought it would be good for the group to take a few out”. The football tops will go to the boys at Kiwumu Boys home.”

Clare continued: “We have helped out other projects and charities in the past that have completed similar trips and we are always glad to help in any way we can. I would like to take this opportunity to wish the Uganda Church team all the best on the trip.”

The Church is holding an Auction to raise funds for the trip on Saturday 24th April at 11.30am. Viewing will be held on the Friday 23rd April from 7-9pm and the Sat morning from 9-11am. Everyone is welcome.
