Can you turn on the style?

ORGANISERS of the highly successful Larne’s Got style event are launching a brand new competition running in conjunction with the top style event held in April this year. The event is organised by Larne Alive in conjunction with Larne Borough Council.

Larne Borough arts and events officer, Rachael McMaster said: “We are really glad that the event is taking place again and it’s looking that it will be an even more stylish affair than last year.

“It’s a really enjoyable event which provides a showcase for the wealth of style and talents in the borough. This year we are particularly excited about the launch of the new fashion stylist competition which will most definitely prove that Larne is definitely one fashionable borough!”

The organisers are asking entrants to send a photograph of themselves or a friend modelling an outfit using vintage, customised, second hand, fair trade or organic clothing and accessories.

“We’re putting your styling skills to the test, so the look must have been created by you,” explained Rachael.

Six finalists will be chosen and their outfits shown by professional models at the Larne’s Got Style event. A panel of judges at the event will decide on the overall winner who will receive the title of Larne’s Top Ethical Fashion Stylist along with £150 prize money.

A display of entries will be exhibited on the evening of Larne’s Got style in the foyer at the McNeill Theatre. Entries on display will be at the discretion of Larne Borough Council.

The outfits will be judged on how ethical the look is, how original creative and imaginative the look is and that the outfit has been styled by you.

Entrants are asked to submit a digital photograph of the outfit along with a statement of no more than 150-word detailing the ethical origins of the outfit shown in the photograph, including details of where the items where sourced. Consent for the photo to be entered into the competition must be obtained from the photographer and the person photographed if not the entrant.

Digital photographs must be submitted as a jpg, in vertical (portrait) format. Photographs taken on a mobile phone will not be eligible. Larne Borough Council reserves the right to not to include photographs which are poor quality.

Entries should be sent to Larne Museum and Arts Centre, Victoria Road, Larne, BT40 1RN or emailed to [email protected]

The closing date for entries is Friday, April 1. No entries received after this date will be accepted. Entries cannot be returned.
