Councillors agreed to a recommendation by the Mayor, Alderman Charles Johnston, the local government authority should hold its full meeting on the first Monday of the month and all five committee sessions on the third Monday, from November.

The first citizen indicated the move was in response to the level of business with the two committees the previous week lasting a total of 10 minutes.

Carrick Council is merging with Larne and Ballymena as part of the new Mid and East Antrim District Council which will become fully operational next spring.
