Concerns over policing cuts

LARNE'S police chief has warned that "substantial cuts" in policing are likely to follow the government's comprehensive spending review in October.

Speaking at a public meeting of Larne District Policing Partnership, Chief Inspector Ryan Henderson told members that the financial position - and how that, in turn, would affect local policing -would be made clear within a few weeks.

"There are likely to be substantial cuts and it could prove very difficult and challenging," he warned.

Chief Inspector Henderson said he would love to bring the partnership some good news about the future policing budget but said the reality is it would not be good.
