Condition of Lurgan traffic crash victim described as ‘critical’

The condition of a 17-year-old boy, involved in a serious road traffic collision in Lurgan, has been described as ‘critical’ by the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

The teenager, who was a pedestrian, was rushed to Craigavon Hospital last night after the collision.

Described earlier as being ‘very seriously’ injured, the boy was then transferred to the RVH.

The incident happened on the Avenue Road close to its junction with Desmesne Avenue last night at around 11.30pm.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “At approximately 11.30pm, a pedestrian was in collision with a car.

“The pedestrian, a 17 year old male, was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries which are currently being closely monitored but are thought to be very serious at this time.

Inspector Ray Shaw said: “I would ask anyone who witnessed this incident to contact Lurgan Police Station on the non emergency number 101.”
