Council grant Springwell Cross Country Cup

BALLYMONEY Borough Council has agreed to facilitate Springwell Running Club, permitting them to stage an event on October 20 at Riada Playing Fields.

During a recent Ballymoney Borough Council meeting, the Leisure and Amenities report explained: ‘Correspondence has been received from Springwell Running Club seeking Council permission and assistance to hold a round of the Springwell Cross Country Cup for primary schools at Riada Playing Fields on October 20 2010 utilizing a 1000m course.

‘This will be the first race in this year’s series. 2010 will be the third running event in which schools from all three Council areas participate - Ballymoney, Coleraine and Limavady.

‘It is recommended that Council facilitate Springwell Running Club permitting them to stage an event on October 20 at Riada Playing Fields and making the Stadium facilities available for the event’s duration.’

It was proposed by Cllr Ian Stevenson and seconded by Cllr John Finlay.
