Council urged to sort out Gobbins management issue
The multi- million pound attraction – which is expected to open around the start of March next year – will be the jewel in local authority’s crown.
And, with Larne Council set to merge with its counterparts in Carrick and Ballymena to form the new Mid and East Antrim District Council in April 2015, preparations are underway to transfer the Gobbins project into the hand of the new organisation.

Cllr McKeen proposed that the Gobbins Steering Committee meets immediate with the chief executive of Mid and East Antrim to put in place these arrangements, first being managed by Larne Council until March 30, 2015, and then by the new super council.
“This will allow us to move forward in recruiting staff, putting in place various service/contracts, marketing and planning for the opening of the attraction,” he concluded.
The motion was passed by members.
