Courteney Cox and Snow Patrol star get gifts

US A-list actress, Courteney Cox and her fiance Johnny McDaid were treated to special gifts while out shopping in his home city.

Erin Kearney, who is a shop assistant at D Cooley Jewellers, recognised the couple and invited them into the Londonderry store.

The couple were then presented with special rings and also got some earrings for Courteney’s 10-year-old daughter Coco, who was with them. The jewellers’ His and Hers rings chart the history of the city.

“Well we are all overwhelmed today in Cooley’s as Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid called in and we presented them both with our History of Derry ring,” the shop told delighted Facebook followers.

Snow Patrol star Johnny, 38, proposed to the former Friends star, in June, on the occasion of her 50th birthday.

The pair shared the happy news with their fans shortly afterwards, by each posting on Twitter, ‘I’m engaged to him!’ and ‘I’m engaged to her!’

US actress Courteney and Johnny were first spotted together in December when they attended the beauty’s close friend Jennifer Aniston’s holiday party in Los Angeles.

However, speculation things were moving very fast began earlier this year when the couple’s mutual friend Ed Sheeran - who introduced them to one another - let slip that they had moved in together.

It is also understood Ed Sheeran was in Londonderry recently. Although the couple’s visit coincided with Johnny McDaid’s 38th birthday, it also prompted speculation that they may be looking at wedding venues in Ireland. However, despite their trip home, it’s believed Ms Cox may want to marry in her native Alabama as her elderly mother cannot travel.

Since they recently arrived in Londonderry the stars have been very down-to-earth, happily posing for photographs at the airport, along the riverfront, at shops, restaurants and even on Shroove beach, on the Inishowen peninsula. Despite fame and fortune, Courteney Cox flew directly into City of Derry airport with a budget airline.

Whether they get married here or in the US, it looks as if Londonderry has made an impact on Ms Cox and that this visit won’t be her last.

While in Cooley’s, Erin Kearney said that the actress told her she loved the city and “couldn’t wait to return’.
