Alan Holywood (54), whose address was given to the court as Hoophill Park, Lurgan, also received six points and was ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that at 2pm police saw a car which had broken down on Lake Road, Craigavon, and it was causing an obstruction.

Checks revealed that there was no insurance in place.

Police spoke to Holywood on February 17 and he said: “I changed my car and didn’t know it wasn’t insured.”

Mr Conor Downey, representing the defendant, said his client had now purchased insurance for the vehicle and the offence was poor housekeeping on his part. He had a clear record and no points on his licence.
