Did not renew driving licence

A County Armagh farmer caught driving without insurance, has lost his licence for six months.

Simon David Boyce (44), of Margretta Park, Portadown, was also fined a total of £400 with a £15 offender levy, for speeding and driving without a licence.

Magherafelt Magistrates Court was told on Wednesday that a vehicle being driven by the defendant was stopped doing 51mph in a restricted 30mph zone at Lawford Street in Moneymore on August 14 last.

A prosecuting lawyer said Boyce told police that he did not have a licence and a check showed he did not have insurance.

Defence lawyer Michael Forde said the defendant had been banned for excess alcohol in 2017 and did not get round to renewing his licence as he has no idea how to use a computer.
