‘Hate’ crimes appeal

WITNESSES are being sought by police investigating three separate incidents of hate crime in the Ballykeel area over the weekend.

The first incident occurred between 1am and 3.30am on Saturday morning, when a male was assaulted between Colonsay Park and Dalriada Walk and windows were subsequently damaged at a house in Colonsay Park.

Three people have been arrested by Ballymena PSNI in relation to this so far and a police spokesman said yesterday (Monday) that enquiries to establish the full facts are continuing.

The second incident took place between 10pm and 11.30pm on Saturday night, when a male was assaulted in the Kintyre Park area of Ballykeel.

The PSNI spokesman confirmed that one person has been arrested in relation to this so far and that enquiries to establish the full facts are continuing.

The third incident occurred between 7pm and 7.45pm on Sunday night in the Inchkeith Road area of the estate when a stone was thrown at a window in an attempt to break it.
