Man (27) accused of 13 indecent assault charges

A MAN has appeared in court accused of indecently assaulting two girls.

The 27-year-old, who cannot be named to protect the identity of the alleged victims, faces 13 charges of indecent assault between January 1, 1996 and December 31, 1999.

During a brief hearing at the local Magistrate’s Court, the man declined to say anything in answer to the charges or to call any evidence. When asked by the clerk of the court, he replied “not at this stage”.

A defence solicitor accepted there was a case for the 27-year-old to answer. Applying for legal aid, the solicitor revealed that his client had to leave his job as a result of the allegations.

The accused was released on bail and will appear at the Crown Court for arraignment next month.
