Probation following damage

He was 20 year old Daniel Paul McCartney, of Burnside, Craigavon.

The charges he faced included disorderly behaviour, unlawful damage to a police cell, making a threat to kill and damaging a drainpipe on July 15 last year.

He was also charged with attempting to damage the rear window of a police vehicle and unlawful possession of cannabis on January 1 this year.

The court heard that on July 15 last year police were called to Enniskeen where the injured party claimed the defendant had made a threat to kill her and damage her property.

McCartney had damaged a drainpipe outside the outside and police could hear glass bottles being thrown at the house and smashing against the wall.

On January 1 after a disturbance at Enniskeen the defendant was placed in the rear of a police car and he kicked the rear passenger door. He admitted he had used cannabis earlier that night.

A solicitor for McCartney said he had a problem with drink and anger management.

The first incident had been at his mother’s house and he had no recollection of it because of his intoxication. He accepted he was totally out of line.

McCartney was put on probation for 12 months with the condition that he attended the anger management programme and given 100 hours community service.

District Judge, Mr Alan White, told the defendant that if he failed to comply with the sentence then custody would be inevitable.
