Dungannon woman crashed car into field after drinking

A Dungannon woman has been banned from driving for 18 months after admitting to crashing her car into a field while drunk at the wheel.

Alice McCluskey, 20, from Kelly’s Lane, was discovered at a house close to Annaginny Road at Newmills.

She admitted to having been the driver of a car which had left the road and crashed into a field in he early hours of February 29.

She subsequently provided a breath sample over two and a half times the limit.

Mr Patrick Hughes, defending, told the court that his client, a part time bartender, had made the “foolish” decision to drive home after drinking after work.

He said that it was her first time drinking since Christmas time and had nothing to eat all day.

He said she had never been in any bother with the police and had been left “embarrassed and anxious” by the events.

In addition to the ban, District Judge John Meehan handed down a fine of £200.
